Tracking Metrics is now a ‘Child’s Play’

November 5, 2008

Metrics are of different kinds such as project metrics, progress metrics, quality metrics, testing metrics, defect metrics, and so on; each has a significant role to play in the development of software product. Without metrics it is quite difficult or rather impossible for the test management team to discern whether the course of the testing process is in the right direction.

Tracking metrics is a time consuming process, as it should be done very carefully. A single error and the whole testing process get affected. This puts the QA team under much pressure but the new test management software that is available make tracking metrics a ‘child’s play’ in the sense that the test management system takes over this responsibility thus easing off pressure from the testers.

The following are some of the features of the new test management system.

  • The metrics collected appear in charts, data tables and summaries.

  • No need to refresh as the data will be updated instantaneously.

  • The Managers and Leads have the last voice in deciding whether the metrics need to be exposed on dashboards.

  • The metrics info can be exported via images, text and CSV.

  • The drill down capabilities allows rich interaction with live data.

Thus this test management system gives the complete status in just a single glance.
